What happens when a bold vision of travel meets the most advanced building intelligence technology? In the heart of Ljubljana, Slovenia, the Dragon’s Dream Hostel blends cutting-edge smart technology with immersive design.

Opened in June 2021, the hostel's innovative approach to automation and design has garnered international recognition. Dragon's Dream earned the Smart Building 2021 award and became the first hostel globally to receive the Silver Smart Building Certification.

Concept and Design

The hostel occupies a formerly unused basement gym, now transformed into a 300 m² space that mimics a dragon’s den. It features 26 uniquely themed rooms and capsule units, designed to accommodate up to 46 guests. With comfort, creativity, and privacy at its core, the hostel welcomes travellers of all kinds - from solo adventurers to couples and families. The fusion of innovative design and advanced automation creates a fully autonomous, smart, and sustainable hostel.

Robotina's Role in Smart Hospitality

Robotina provided a comprehensive building automation solution that enables Dragon’s Dream Hostel to operate seamlessly without on-site staff. The integration of Robotina’s technologies facilitated the creation of a smart,energy-efficient, and user-friendly environment for both guests and management.

Key features:

• GRMS (Guest Room Management System): lighting, HVAC, and ambiance automatically adjust to guest presence and preferences.
• Digital Key Access: contactless, secure room and hostel entry via QR code - no need for reception or traditional check-in.
• Service Automation: cleaning and maintenance partners are automatically notified when a guest checks out, triggering workflow processes.
• Fully Autonomous Operations: Self check-in and no permanent on-site personnel required.
• Energy Optimization: smart control of lighting and HVAC systems in both guest rooms and communal areas, reducing operational costs.
